Unique view over Sweden’s largest lake, Vänern.
Here, there is a horizon map of this part of Vänern, where you can see in which direction, for example, various places are located. You can often see Läckö Castle and, in the distance, glimpse several of the islands shown on the map, and you can also see in which direction, for example, Karlstad is located.
The plateau on which Utsiktens Kaffestuga stands was created more than 60 years ago on the initiative of Nils Lundin, father of the current tenant’s husband, Kjell-Åke Lundin. Nils was a foreman at the quarry below the viewpoint and, among other things, responsible for removing soil and other material from the limestone that was quarried for cement production in Hällekis. He lived on the other side of the road and thought it would be nice to have a viewpoint below his house, and so it became. If you look at the outer edge of the viewpoint, you can see the original ground level.
According to Carl von Linné, Kinnekulle is one of the most beautiful places on earth, and there are many lovely places to visit when you are here. Utsiktens Kaffestuga has brochures and maps to help you find all the excursion destinations.
